Communicating with Residents and Families About Antibiotics
Resident and family requests for antibiotics are a recognized driver of unnecessary antibiotic prescribing in the nursing home setting. The 4-part Communication Strategy is recommended by the Centers of Disease Control (CDC) as a method of providing effective communication in situations where an antibiotic is not needed. This course offers free CE credit and is broken up into multiple modules to accommodate busy schedules.

Utah DHHS in collaboration with University of Utah will start providing antimicrobial stewardship ECHO educational series. The ECHO program will focus on the implementation of antimicrobial stewardship in long term care facilities and will host many antimicrobial stewardship experts to address common challenges of implementing sustainable antimicrobial programs.
